Mud Day at Muddy Brook

Event date/time:
Saturday, May 18, 2019 - 12:00am
Muddy Brook Regional Elementary School 318 Monument Valley Road Great Barrington, MA 01230

Participants will learn about river processes (fluvial geomorphology). Understanding why rivers do what they do is essential to managing flood risk in riverine environments, particularly at road-stream crossings such as culverts and bridges. We will use an interactive stream table and allow participants to experiment with various river and landscape scenarios to illustrate first-hand how rivers change their shape, erode banks, flood low-elevation areas, and impact infrastructure.
