W. Thomas Griffin

Thom Griffin received a B.S. in Agronomy from the University of Connecticut in 1975.  From 1975 to 1978, he was the Superintendent of Copper Hill Country Club, in East Granby, Connecticut.  From 1978 to 1984 he was the Manager of Grounds at the 600 acre headquarters of CIGNA Corporation, in Bloomfield, Connecticut. From 1984 to 1995, Thom owned and operated a successful sheep and llama/alpaca farm, with an associated yarn business.  In 1992, Thom opened Penfrydd Farm Bed & Breakfast.  In 1995, he was hired by the University of Massachusetts to be Manager of the Turf Research Center. Thom also teaches a course in Irrigation & Drainage, and a course in Turf Machinery. In addition to the above, Thom maintains a musical career. After 20 years as a church organist, he began an opera career that has included both performing and directing throughout New England.
